EXPERIENCE
Principal Richard Blackwell, a qualified
architect since 1995, was educated at the University of Manchester and
at UCL
(The Bartlett). One college enthused over
Modernism whilst the other reacted against it, but this polarised
education has proved to be extremely valuable, resulting in a personal
architectural philosophy that embraces both practicality and
engagement.
Prior to commencing practice in 2001,
he worked at Hodder Associates and
Brookes Stacey Randall Fursdon.
During the period 2002-2006 he practised as
Blackwell Friend Architects with former partner Adrian Friend.
He was short-listed for the inaugural YAYA award
in 1998 and has won numerous competitions and awards in both employment
and private practice.
With thanks to friends at Hodder Associates,
Brookes Stacey Randall Fursdon / SpaceCraft and Space Syntax for the
use of drawings and models produced by Richard Blackwell during periods
of employment. Ownership of the work remains with those practices.
