UNIVERSITY COLLEGE SALFORD
Richard Blackwell returned to Hodder Associates,
Manchester following his Diploma at The Bartlett. The immediate task
was to quickly develop a scheme for University College Salford.
The building was to be located upon
the edge of an urban block. Responding to this
context, the design developed as an orthogonal block facing an organic
volume, across a full-height internal street.
The completed project was the winner of the
inaugural RIBA Stirling Prize for Architecture in 1996
